I LOVE WORDS!

I LOVE WORDS! I write almost everyday and I mean that, I skip an occasional Sunday just because I can, but other than that, I write everyday and the minimal acceptable is five hundred words. I can and do write five hundred words in just over a half hour, even when I have nothing to say. What does this say about me?

It might say that I LOVE WORDS! and this would be so, so true. I love words. With words, one can invent an entire kingdom, an inter-planetary government, a sexy doctor in his early fifties, interested in a sexy motel owner in her seventies. Words, put together in myriads of patterns can have you shivering in fear, giggling in glee, sweating with passion, or nodding off at an absurdly early hour. Only to wake, again at an absurdly early hour, to do it again.

It takes almost no luggage to pack along thousands of words, one notebook, and a pen. A small purse can manage an electronic device that can sort and hold tens of thousands of words in a story that you can get back to at your convenience.

There are convenient repositories for holding packages of words worldwide. Libraries, holding books safe and dry until we can get to them. Lifetimes of research and experience, awaiting our attention and interest, standing at attention, sometimes slouching to the side, but mostly standing at attention until we deign to set aside time to peruse the offerings.

Offerings coming from grit and grind and soul-baring, spirit-wrenching self examination that allowed the author to get their idea out of the ether and onto the page. Whatever it took and however it got done…there it sits, waiting for the grace of our presence.

I LOVE WORDS and tend to gobble them up – just as I will be gobbling up turkey this month. This month is also the month to gobble up writing in NANOWRIMO (NAtional NOvel WRIting MOnth). This is the month where writers attempt to give up significance and write an entire 50K novel in 30 days. Yes, I am deep into this endeavor. Wish me good ju-ju!

Thanks for reading. I do not take it for granted.
